Someone once told me that destruction is a form of creation.
I whisper it like a mantra.
It gives meaning to the chaos, to the void.
That this sorrow has purpose.
That I can breathe even when it feels a lot like drowning.
these notes are burdened not just with pain but with memory, with the ghosts who haunt those forgotten halls.
I hate them, and I love them.
They sing me to sleep when I’m too fucked up on regret and whiskey to find a moment of solace.
Sometimes I’m afraid this is all a dream.
Sometimes I wish that’s all it was, and I would awake with the taste of ash in my mouth, and I would feel your body against mine in the darkness, and I’d forget about the world.
But that isn’t how our story was meant to go. And it burns just as bright as the photograph I had to remember you by.
Someone once told me that destruction is a form of creation. I wonder what I’ll create when I destroy myself.
